Thank you!!!
As we head into the homestretch of what has been an unprecedented year, please take a moment to reflect on how far we have come together as a MURSD community this year. Day after day, you exhibited ongoing flexibility, resilience, enthusiasm, high expectations and compassion for our students. Although we will have a lot going on this last week as we finish up, please be sure to pause and celebrate your collective successes with your students and colleagues. Thank you for your extraordinary efforts in your transition to remote learning. Thank you for your creative approaches to remote instruction. Thank you for coming together and supporting one another as a team to meet the various needs of our students. I hope you are able to take a break as you enter the summer season to rest and rejuvenate!
Virtual Inspired Learning Day
Please see the following Virtual Inspired Learning Day that Leigh-Ann Ramsey is coordinating, which is available for all buildings to be involved if interested.
Good Morning, I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the beautiful weather! I wanted to reach out about the virtual Inspired Learning Day on June 19, 2020 and continuing through the summer. Since there are no classes meeting on June 19, I am planning on running a virtual Inspired Learning Day for the students to take part in. The virtual Inspired Learning Day sessions will include opportunities for students across the district to explore careers, embark on virtual field trips, learn new skills, visit colleges virtually, team building games, and much more! If you would like to participate by sharing an idea or a passion, please feel free to record a video or pass along a resource or two to be included in the virtual ILD! Remember, this is a district-wide event so any resources/ideas that you have from grades Pre-K through 12 are welcomed! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Leigh-ann" MURSD Reentry Committee
We will be forming a District Reentry Advisory Committee of approximately 25-30 staff, parents, and secondary level students to advise some practical solutions to our school re-entry, once we receive the guidelines from D.E.S.E.
If you are interested in being a part of this advisory committee, please fill out this short Google form Professional Development

As a result of some of our district SEL assessments at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, our district SEL teams determined that one area for growth for our district is to provide resources and professional development in the area of cultural proficiency. This will be one of the themes we continue into the 2020-2021 as an area of focused learning, beginning with some summer reading opportunities. The following are some of the summer reading choices. Please e-mail Maureen Cohen if you'd like to participate in the summer reading groups by specifying which books you'd like to participate with.
June-July: White Fragility July-August: Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain Cultural Proficiency Subcommittee
I have had many people reach out to me directly to either provide resources or wanting to help in future plans, resource development, and professional development in the issues of cultural proficiency, anti-racism, and equity in our schools. This subcommittee will be a subset of our district SEL committee work and is open to anyone who is interested. Please e-mail Maureen Cohen directly if you are interested in being on this subcommittee.
PD committee 2020-2021
We welcome new members to the PD Committee each year. If you are interested in being on the PD Committee for the 2020-2021 school year please reach out to Maureen Cohen or Brendon Rosenau.
Summer PD
Summer Communications
Due to the level of uncertainty with the state budget alongside the comprehensive re-entry work for school, we will be staying in communications more frequently this summer. I will not provide weekly updates as I do throughout the school year, but I will be sending out updated information as needed throughout the summer. Please don't hesitate to reach out via e-mail or call my line 508-488-5122 if you have questions over the summer.
Fingers crossed that the COVID numbers keep declining and we are trending in the right direction prior to the school year! Stay healthy and positive, everyone! Best, Maureen
