Welcome BackWelcome back, everyone! I hope you had a nice break, which was certainly well-deserved after all of the hard work and time you have put into our district's remote learning. This past Saturday, April 25th was a beautiful day of weather and fit the description of the funny clip from Miss Congeniality of the perfect date: Please describe your idea of a perfect date. 'That's a tough one. I'd have to say April 25th. Because it's not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.' LOL. I hope you were able to take advantage of the warm weather. Although I have been chipping away at work all week, I did decide to carve out some time to do some reading for pleasure, which I always do on vacation weeks. I read and/or listened to on Audible "The Silent Patient" (LOVED), "Little Fires Everywhere," and "Where the Crawdads Sing" (LOVED) and I'm still working on "The Testaments" and "The Stand." I hope you had opportunities to also take some time to recoup, relax, and rest. Best of luck as you transition back to your classes and students this week. I am hoping to start popping into classes so I can see all the great learning and interactions taking place across the district. As always, if you have something you'd like to share, please reach out to invite me "in" :) Have a great week! Remote Learning-Extended School ClosuresApril 21, 2020 Governor Baker announced that public and private schools (not including residential special education schools) will stay closed through the end of the school year. This is a necessary step to keep everyone as healthy as possible. Remote learning is even more important now, and DESE will issue additional guidance to public schools later this week. Commissioner Riley views the state’s response to COVID-19 as having four phases:
April 24, 2020 On Friday night, the Commissioner sent out guidance to strengthen the remote learning experience, as well as identified prerequisite standards by grade level and subject that should be emphasized. We will be providing more district specific guidance moving forward, but I wanted to share out these documents for you to start taking a look at. In most cases, we are already well-aligned to the guidance provided by DESE moving forward, so keep up the great work! Resources Articles/Blogs

Thank you! #MURSDGratitudeWhile I know it was difficult for us to hear that we will not be going back to our classrooms and schools and won't have our face-to-face time with our students, I know that you will continue to build connections, relationships, and do what ever you can to support our students during our remote learning. Here are some quotes that speak to your commitment. Thank you all!

I read those same three books over the past few months! I was pleasantly surprised that two of them told the story of artists. And Crawdads even included the observational drawings of animal life in the marsh. Best wishes with The Stand. I read it when I was in college (1979?). It’s a rite of passage. I think you’ll love it!

I created a video for new 5th graders I will be getting this week who have never met me. Thought it would be helpful before we meet in a zoom and I start giving them assignments. It's much longer than the music teachers video! I just wanted them to get to know a little about me. Hoping they take advantage of their assignment this week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkPi6FhiK8k&t=1s
