March 3 PD DayFinal details are in place for the March 3 PD Day where we will be hosting the third annual Inspired Learning Convention. The purpose of the event is to collectively and collaboratively share engaging, relevant, and meaningful deeper learning opportunities throughout our classrooms and to partner with colleagues across other districts. We are thrilled to welcome two featured presenters. Our opening speaker is Matthew Dicks. Matthew is an educator, author, and a nationally-syndicated storyteller on NPR's The Moth. Matthew will also run a workshop on storytelling at the convention. Additionally, we will welcome Richard Byrne, educator and founder of Practical Ed Tech. Richard will facilitate several hands-on sessions focused on practical practices that leverage technology to create Inspired Learning experiences. They are tentatively scheduled to focus on Augmented / Virtual Reality & DIY App creation for kids related to different content areas. Next Steps: We will be finalizing the details of the day on Monday and Tuesday of this week with a few of our presenters. You can begin registering for sessions by Wednesday morning. In the meantime, you can start to take a look at the schedule using this link. Beginning on Wednesday of this week you can register for the sessions. We also have a few targeted in-district sessions that will be found listed in Teachpoint (not in the Inspired Learning Convention) because they are not open to outside participants. For example:
ResourcesArticles/Resources from Twitter Self-Care Practice: Savor the Moment (From Onward Workbook) Researchers have found that the happiest people savor the good moments in life. By taking the time and spending the effort to appreciate the positive, we can experience more well-being. Savoring little moments is a habit, and all good habits start with a plan. What will you savor this week? make a list of at least 10 mundane but also enjoyable moments that you can anticipate savoring this week: Stretching in bed when you wake up, taking a shower, eating breakfast, listening to music on your way to work. Which moments in your day d you know you enjoy, but sometimes don't pay attention to? Str with those and then add a few others that you already anticipate will be good moments--the walk you have planned with a friend after school on Wednesday, the team meeting you always enjoy, and so on. PBL Project Slice I'd like to invite you, any of your school leaders and key teacher leaders to attend one of our free Project Slice experience on March 4 (Burlington), or March 16 (Lowell). This one day experience will allow participants to experience PBL as a learner and reflect on how PBL can help their students achieve academic content standards and success skills that they will need for college, career and life. We're also currently accepting applications for our PBL School Leader Network, where 50% of the participation fees will be covered by the One8 Foundation.
