ConferencesI wanted to personally thank you for your time, dedication, and efforts that you put into preparing for conferences last week. Partnering actively with families, parents, and caregivers is an essential component to providing our students with what they need academically, socially, and behaviorally. Thank you for showing our families how much you care, how much our students are growing, and how much a team effort will truly help all students to thrive. Reasons to Celebrate!Grateful Educators Participate in Learning Walks So many professions make a staple of their professional learning to observe others practicing their craft. Often these experiences are called internships, rounds or residencies. In MURSD we call them Learning Walks. Learning Walks are a key practice in our district's mentoring and induction program. Even educators who have been practicing their craft for years are invited to participate because time and time again, educators say that observing people teach and reflecting on it is some of the best professional learning they experience. When MURSD hosted learning walks a couple of weeks ago, again, the room was abuzz with exclamations of ideas educators would bring back to their classrooms and work with students. I asked them to take a minute to share their gratitude with the dozens of teachers across the district . Their sentiments are a reason to celebrate, MURSD! Thank you! Below is some of what they shared: new educator PLC #3 - creating equitable, inclusive classroomsEducators in their first year in MURSD are gathering at 3:45 at Clough Elementary on Wednesday afternoon (11/8), as a part of their New Educator PLC. The focus for the day will be on Equitable, Inclusive Classrooms, and the tools and how MURSD supports this work and continues to learn to improve in this area. We look forward to seeing you! Reach out to Andrea Rutkowski or me with any questions. If you want to try a new idea or enhance something you are already doing in the classroom this would be a great opportunity for you to check out. Educator-designed PD tuesday, November 7thTuesday, November 7th we are looking forward to a day of collaboration and focus on Professional Development that you and your colleagues have designed. There is an exciting mix of proposals that will enable educators to build on and apply your learning to new ideas, units and projects. Many thanks to those of you who submitted proposals, and for those of you who have not submitted a proposal, please do so immediately, unless you plan to join another group. There have been a few proposals submitted that are open to anyone, and Kim and I have made an effort to put these on our district's PD website. All submitted proposals should now be available in Vector, and groups should be able to enroll before the end of the day today, and register on Tuesday using the standard directions which can be accessed here. Many thanks to Kim Lowther who has been working with many of you to reformat your proposals so your colleagues can sign up for them and trouble shoot with various Vector-related questions. Please let us know if you need any further assistance. Also, thanks to Kim for arranging with Dianne Mucci to provide coffee and breakfast treats in the morning at each school. Lunch is on your own. Have a great day tomorrow! PBL 101- Reserve yor spot this weekWe have another opportunity for a small group of educators to participate in PBL 101 training through our partnership with the Blackstone Valley Curriculum Consortium. Save the dates: December 4, 5 & 6 hosted at Nipmuc PDC from 8:30-3:30 each day. If you are interested please pre-register using this link. We will accept pre-registrations through November 10th and, since space is limited, we will alert folks on November 13th whether they will be able to be a part of this training. In order to pre-register, talk to your principal about your ability to ask for sub-coverage for this 3-day workshop. Priority will go to middle school educators who may not have been able to access training but would like to be trained. Laughter is the best medicine
